our British Columbia trip didn't quite go as planned

Hi Reader!

Every summer I try to plan one bucket list family trip. This year I chose British Columbia, the westernmost province in Canada, with plans to spend a week exploring Vancouver, Whistler, and Victoria.

Unfortunately, our trip didn't quite go as planned. My daughter became quite sick in Vancouver, and we decided it was best to head home early in case she needed medical treatment. Thankfully she recovered within a week, but she definitely wouldn't have been able to continue traveling.

One thing I learned from the experience is that it never hurts to ask for a refund. Our Whistler hotel reservation was non-refundable and just one day away, but after explaining the situation and sending a doctor's note, they kindly gave us a full refund. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, don't hesitate to reach out and ask.

Although we had to skip Whistler and Victoria this time, we really enjoyed our time in Vancouver.

➡️ Our 2 Day Vancouver Itinerary

What I loved most about Vancouver was how easily it blends city life with nature. One minute you're in the heart of downtown, and the next you're exploring Stanley Park, crossing the Capilano Suspension Bridge, or wandering through Granville Island. We were lucky to visit during the FIFA festivities, which added an extra buzz to the city.

If you're planning a visit, or just want to see some beautiful photos, I've shared exactly how we spent two days in the city, where we stayed, and all of our favorite experiences.

One thing that surprised me while planning this trip was learning that Vancouver Island, the home of Victoria, is about three times the size of Hawaii's Big Island. We originally thought we'd see it on this trip, but quickly realized it deserves a vacation of its own! I also can't wait to go back in the future and drive the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler.

The Bean in Chicago

Hi Reader! Chicago had been on my travel wish list for years, and I finally got the chance to visit this spring on a weekend getaway with friends. ➡️ My first trip to Chicago: 2 day itinerary After spending two full days exploring the city, one thing stood out to me: Chicago got the downtown right. The Bean in Chicago is truly a bucket list attraction! I've visited a lot of cities over the years, but few have a downtown that feels this clean, walkable, and beautiful to explore. The city is...

Hi Reader! Have you been to Hawaii before? One thing I didn't expect before visiting Hawaii was how different each island would feel. People often talk about "going to Hawaii" as if it's a single destination, but after visiting Oahu, Big Island, and Maui, I can tell you they each have their own personality, landscapes, and attractions. If you're trying to decide where to go, here's how I think about the three islands we've visited. Oahu ➡️ Oahu Itinerary for 5 to 7 Days Hanauma Bay - popular...
