Chicago had been on my travel wish list for years, and I finally got the chance to visit this spring on a weekend getaway with friends.

➡️ My first trip to Chicago: 2 day itinerary​

After spending two full days exploring the city, one thing stood out to me: Chicago got the downtown right.

I've visited a lot of cities over the years, but few have a downtown that feels this clean, walkable, and beautiful to explore. The city is well designed with amazing architecture. Everywhere we went, there seemed to be another impressive building or skyscraper around the corner, and I found myself constantly looking up.

Seeing Cloud Gate ("The Bean") for the first time was a highlight, as were the tulips blooming along Michigan Avenue during our visit.

Another standout experience was the Chicago Architecture Center river cruise. Seeing the city from the water gave me a whole new appreciation for Chicago's architecture and skyline.

But what impressed me most wasn't any single attraction. It was how well the entire downtown fit together: the river, parks, waterfront, attractions, and architecture all seemed to work seamlessly together.
